“We lost two balls that we normally don’t lose,” Cesc Fàbregas explained after Como’s defeat against Inter. The Como head coach revealed that he had tried to adjust his team’s shape during the match.
“I tried to create more balance. It went a little better, but it was not enough to make a difference.”
Fàbregas identified defensive transitions as the source of Inter’s goals: “We conceded two goals on the counterattack following mistakes by one of our players.”
Despite the result, the coach was keen to praise his squad: “Today I thanked them because, if people are talking more and more about Como, it is thanks to them.”
The Spanish coach also urged everyone to maintain the right perspective despite the club’s growth: “I am pleased with how we are perceived, but we must keep our feet on the ground.”
Finally, Fàbregas explained the difficulties that affected his defensive choices: “Dossena was not feeling well yesterday, Kambwala could not play, and we only had two centre-backs available. I had to sort out our defensive structure, and Smolčić was the only player who could play in that role. We found a better balance.”
To conclude, the coach gave credit to the opposition: “Congratulations to Inter. We must continue on our path without losing our heads.”
